Allen has served over 30 years with the Los Angeles Police Department and has spent the last two years with the Greenfield Police Department serving as both Police Commander and acting Police Chief. City officials said that Allen was selected from a field of 40 applicants in a process closely managed by former Interim Chief Larry Todd and City Manager David Buckingham. In a press release, Todd praised Allens leadership and focus on community policing. “His leadership skills will serve the employees of the Police Department and the community well. Morro Bay is fortunate to get such a highly-qualified Police Chief,” Todd said. Gregory Allen has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Union Institute and University in Los Angeles and a Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.
